Job Description

About the role:

As a casual Production Assistant within our Translations Service team, you will focus on providing essential videography, photography, and video editing services. You will have shared responsibility for delivering high-standard Auslan content, ensuring video accessibility, and maintaining smooth production workflows

Main responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Set up and operate high-quality camera, lighting, and audio equipment to capture Auslan presenters, signers, and supplementary b-roll footage.
  • Cut and arrange footage, add graphics, titles, text overlays, and colour grades while ensuring captions and audio formatting meet strict accessibility requirements
  • Manage on-set logistics (preparation, set up, and pack down) and ensure all production equipment is meticulously maintained

About you:

In your application, let us know if you have these key skills and experience: 

  • Proven ability to use video editing platforms and systems, specifically Adobe Creative Cloud programs such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and After Effects
  • Fluency in Auslan alongside a deep knowledge and understanding of the Deaf community, its language, and its culture
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage project timeframes, workflows, and priorities effectively
  • Experience or ability to develop and implement effective processes, tools, and resources for translation services
  • Sound communication skills with the ability to collate and present clear information and recommendations

You should also let us know if you have these other great skills: 

  • Relevant qualifications or ongoing study in video production or Auslan
  • Knowledge and understanding of the broader Deaf and hard of hearing sector.
